“We welcome all female sailors to compete in the 2018 Women’s Snipe World Championship, to take place on Narragansett Bay in Newport, Rhode Island. The iconic sailing city has hosted several America’s Cup races, is home of the New York Yacht Club, and will be the 2018 USA Volvo Ocean Race stopover.
Many sailors flock to Newport each year to race in the city known for its remarkable sailing conditions; the 2018 summer season is exceptionally special with the addition of the newly built Sail Newport sailing center. Set atop the historic Fort Adams Point, Snipe competitors and fans will have spectacular views and plenty of space to rig, launch, and socialize before and after racing.
Newport is just a short train ride from New York City or Boston, as well as home to numerous shops such as Helly Hansen, Team One Newport, and several fashion boutiques. Whether sailors come to challenge the Roy Yamaguchi trophy, or wish to visit Newport’s historic mansions, beaches, and incredible restaurant cuisine, we invite all competitors to join is this August for a spectacular week of racing on Narragansett Bay.
